I was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1975, but we (my brother and parents) lived in Universal City, then moved to Columbus in 1978.
My first memory of learning music was by attending the First Baptist Church services, singing with/in the choir and my K-4 music classes. I took piano lessons in third and fourth grade, but fifth grade I started beginning band and focused on playing the trombone.
In 1986, we moved to Schulenburg, which was my 7th grade year. In eighth grade, I started guitar and really latched on to that instrument. The band programs of the public school system in Texas really gave me the stuff I needed to pursue music after high school.
I studied classical, jazz, blues, and commercial music (on both trombone and guitar) at South Plains College (Levelland, Tx.) from 1994-1996, and earned my teaching degree in Music Education at Southwest Texas State University in 2001 and completed my student teaching requirements at Johnson City ISD (including grades K-12) that same year.
The next few years, I was hired to work with the LBJ HS band's summer camp, where I held sectionals, and even arranged a "Beatles" show for their marching band.
I taught at Bannockburn Baptist School and Hyde Park Baptist School in Austin from 2003-2007 where my duties included: Music teacher for grades K-6, Fall and Spring children's musicals, general music and band classes, piano and guitar classes, and was the assistant to the choir director.
I have been at JCISD since the Fall of 2007 where my duties include: Head band director for the high school, middle school, and 5th grade beginning bands; general music classes for grades K-5, including children's musicals in the Fall.
Since 1997, I’ve been a part of the Texas Hill Country and have honed my skills teaching lessons, performing with several "Austin" bands, composed/arranged, etc. As a result, I now offer all of these music services to you, with confidence and competitive pricing, for all of your music needs.
What can I help you with: Live music, lessons, song writing, piano tuning, guitar/amp repair, tv/film composition, other?
